On Friday, May 25th, 2018, President Trump issued three (3) Executive Orders (EO) aimed at bringing down Federal Employee Unions. This administration has consistently been anti-worker, anti-Labor, and anti-Federal employee--despite his campaign rhetoric and oft-heard ranting of making America great again.
These Executive Orders are unconstitutional, clear violations of the law, and aimed at giving management even more rights than they currently possess within this anti-workers' agenda era started by and currently underway by this administration.
AFGE has filed a lawsuit in the D.C. District Court system against President Trump, Office of Personnel Management (OPM), and OPM's Director, Jeff Pon.
While this fight is far from over, we are rolling up our sleeves and getting ready to battle this administration by any means necessary in the courts, at the worksite, and on our days off. We will not rest until these attacks cease. But we are in for a long night that may last months--yet it's a fight in which we are prepared to defend the laws that govern us--not the laws that attempt to obstruct Democracy from ringing true throughout the great United States.
As employees of the Transportation Security Administration, there are certain criteria within these Executive Orders that do not apply to us, while other matters discussed may apply to us; still, as TSA employees, it is our belief that the ATSA and the Administrator's Determination, which derives from the ATSA, trumps (pun intended) any of these three (3) Executive Orders, except where prohibited by law.
In short, AFGE Council 100, AFGE Local 1260, and the rest of AFGE will combat these EOs while the courts determine the outcome. I will bring updated information as it comes in.
